This was expensive(I'll just say it was a little over 1500 from memory) but I got back pretty much a new machinegun as everything on the lower that could be replaced pretty much was. On top of that he filled in the old safety and cut the spot for the new one converting the gun to use standard m10 parts and refinished the lower when done. He also replace the old magazine well with a new one and setup the gun for unmodifed grease gun mags(the stock 45 acp mags on these guns were modified). I have a texas gun and had Practical Solutions redo it.

You can have a good smith(practical solutions seems to be the main guy for these but Mike at TSC Machine told me he has done some as well) fix both issues. Now this doesn't mean the Texas guns are bad. The frames were also tack welded instead of tig welded and are known to have the welds fail. You can tell as these guns have a safety like an m1 rifle where it goes through the trigger guard where everyone elses is on the frame next to it. The problem is you can't get parts for those improvements. When they were done in Texas they changed the trigger and safety to make them "better". If it is a Stephenville, TX one then the value goes down some or a good bit depending on version. It is worth saying that you can always have it done later if it becomes an issue. You can have them installed on the older guns but then the upper will have to be modified or you will just need to replace it(which isn't a bad idea with the lage slow fire uppers being a better solution on the gun). The only weird thing I can really think of with them is that later guns had extra tabs welded in up front on the frame. The Powder Springs Ga guns are the most desirable. That was my bad as I should have said something as multiple places made guns marked Ingram Military Armament Corp. I'm kinda going through this semi fast but it gives the break down since you didn't say where it came from.
